Do you only do bamboo tattoos?
No, we offer both bamboo and machine.
Do you offer piercing?
At this moment in time we don’t offer piercing, it’s really important to us that we focus on our art.
What’s the difference between getting a bamboo tattoo and machine tattoo?
There are a couple of key differences between the two tattoo styles. Traditional bamboo tattoos generally take longer as they are hand poked. There is less trauma to the skin, as the ink is gently pushed into the skin one stroke at time. One of the largest differences between machine and bamboo tattooing is the healing process. Bamboo tattoos tend to heal a lot faster without going through the full scabbing and peeling process. They can also be done in both colour and black and grey pigments. Bamboo tattoos have a unique look and is currently a dying technique and at form originating from Thailand.
Is getting a tattoo safe?
There are always risks present when getting any procedure done to your body, however you can trust that our professional practices at Bamboo Tattoo Studio are up to the highest health and safety standards. We pride ourselves in our artists abilities and our cleanliness in order to keep you safe.
Is it going to hurt?
Tattoos are earned! Of course they hurt, however if it was that bad nobody would get them. Pain depends on many variables such as the location and mental or emotional state of the clients. It’s not about pain tolerance, it’s a state of mind. We have clients that come in and feel very minimal discomfort while others feel a more intense pain. Having a meal prior to your tattoo session will help your body endure the tattoo process as well as keep your blood sugar levels high. This will prevent you from feeling lightheaded or faint while getting the tattoo. If you’re worried about your pain tolerance, we recommend bringing sugary candy and drinks. We also offer soft drinks if you need them. Once the tattoo is done, you’re left with a beautiful piece of art on your skin forever so the pain is definitely worth it!
How do I take care of my new tattoo?
After you get your brand new tattoo, the artist will clean and wrap up your new tattoo. You’ll also receive written aftercare instructions as well as verbal instructions for you to follow. We will be providing you with after care cream as well. You can find the aftercare instructions on our website here, and if you have any further questions feel free to contact us.
How do weight changes affect tattoos?
Tattoos change as your skin does. This can happen with weight fluctuation and aging. If you get stretch marks, your tattoo will get stretch marks. Usually you won’t notice a difference unless there are dramatic changes to your weight.
How much will it cost
There are many variables to take into consideration when determining a cost for your tattoo. It depends on the style of tattoo, the tattoo artist who will be executing your tattoo, the size of the tattoo and the placement of the tattoo on your body. It helps us determine the appropriate artist for you if you can provide reference photos for inspiration. At our studio, we price our tattoos by the piece and not hourly. This method is best for both parties.
What if there’s hair on the area I want tattooed?
That’s no problem! We have disposable razors in the studio that the tattoo artists will use on you skin before they begin the tattoo. We would prefer to shave you at the studio to keep the area clean and to ensure that you don’t get any cuts or nicks. We also want to mention that you cannot get laser hair removal over a tattoo.
What should I get and where?
That’s what we’re here for! Come in for a consultation and we’ll sit down and talk to you about it. All of our artists create custom tattoos that are specifically designed just for you.
What are some things to consider when getting a tattoo in the summer or before a vacation?
The most important thing to know is that a tattoo is an open wound. Tanning should be avoided right after you get a tattoo as well as when it is healed. Sunscreen should always be applied to healed tattoos in order to preserve their colour. We don’t recommend swimming until a tattoo is fully healed (about a month) as swimming can expose the tattoo to bacteria. If you’re going on vacation, remember to clean your tattoo frequently. Check out our aftercare instructions
Is it possible to lighten a tattoo with white ink or laser?
Laser will absolutely lighten an old or faded tattoo! Laser tattoo removal may require multiple sessions for lightening. The result can be seen after the first session laser removal session, although the change may be minor. Please keep in mind that your tattoo will fade and lighten throughout a 6 week healing process. We usually recommend a cover up tattoo once the old tattoo is lightened enough to allow for creative options.
What happens if you get a cut on your tattoo?
If it’s a minor cut, don’t even worry about it. If the cut is deep enough to leave a scar you may lose colour in this part of the tattoo that was affected and may require a touch up.
Is it difficult to cover up a tattoo?
It all depends on the tattoo you want covered up! The most important thing to know when you’re covering up a tattoo is that you’re going to have to go bigger. Some people need a few laser tattoo removal appointments before we begin the coverup in order to lighten the tattoo. The more you lighten the tattoo the more options you will have for the cover up. For cover ups you’re going to have to be more flexible with your design, as the artist has to distract the eye from the old tattoo underneath. The ultimate goal is to camouflage the old with the new. Please come in for a consultation as every case is unique and different to the circumstances.
Can I cover a tattoo with makeup?
There are makeup brands out there that will cover up your tattoos, celebrities do it all the time for movies! Covering your tattoos with makeup definitely isn’t realistic for every day as it takes time and can be expensive.
